Asus Transformer Prime Gets a New Release Date; Look Forward to Dec 19th

November 30, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The Transformer Prime has been in the news for quite some time now. Asus had first shown the world’s first Tegra 3 quad-core tablet back in October, and since then we have been hearing different release dates for the device.

The latest we stumble upon is a date next month – the 10.1-inch slate is said to be set for arrival in stores this December 19th.

After the November 9th official launch, it was expected that the Asus tablet will be released in November 28th. But the event was postponed to December 9th.

As if another postponement has come about now, a new date has been spotted in Gamestop’s computer inventory system. Going by that, the 32GB Transformer Prime priced at $499 is expected to be seen on December 19.

As you might know, the Transformer Prime has opened for pre-orders in various stores already. The postponing of the slate’s release date has made the Asus fans disappointed. We, in the meanwhile, also hear that the company is planning an event in early December.

Here is a rough outline of the Transformer Prime for those who have missed our earlier report. The Android 3.2 powered tablet is equipped with a 10.1-inch Super IPS touchscreen covered by Gorilla Glass, 1.4 GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, optional 32/64GB internal storage and dual cameras: an 8-megaipxel rear shooter with 1080p HD video recording and a 1.3-megapixel front snapper.

The 8.3mm slim slate will be available in two colors: Amethyst Gray and Champagne Gold. The 32 and 64GB version Transformer Prime is priced at $499 and $599 respectively.
