Acer Quad Core Tablet Confirmed to Arrive in 2012

November 30, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

So there is an Acer quad core Tegra 3 tablet surely on the way. It’s not just another rumor guys, the company has confirmed this.

Acer president Jim Wong was heard telling T3 that the rumors and leaks in the media regarding Acer coming up with a new Honeycomb based quad-core tablet next year are true.

Acer was the first to follow Motorola with a Honeycomb tablet in 2011 after the launch of the Xoom and that the company intended to remain very aggressive on that front. Acer may offer Windows 8 based tablets in 2012 as well – Wong hinted that much.

This is what Wong had to say about the importance of tablets for Acer:

Tablets are a very important category to expand our business. We are the only company selling Windows 7 tablets in volume and next year we will continue to do the same thing with second generation Windows tablets on the way in addition to our Android tablets.

Acer is stepping into the new mobile device market as well, where it will invest cautiously and aim to become one of the leading players.

Thought this bit of info may not be related to the Tegra 3 tablet from Acer, we feel obliged to remind you of the Acer Iconia Tab A200 that is thought to be powered by a Tegra 2 processor.

We promise to bring you more on the Tegra 3 tablet from Acer, or from any company for that matter.  Stay with us.
