Ever heard of something called WebGL? In case you haven’t, read on.

This technology allows you access to interactive 3D graphics on compatible browsers. If you were unaware, it was because it was not widely supported.

Now, Sony Ericsson has come up with the announcement that their new devices in the Xperia line will come with WebGL support next year. That finally brings the technology to mobile devices.

Well, things had to change sooner or later now with open standards becoming the mantra of the web.

WebGL was not really supported in mobile devices as well. Sony Ericsson claims that they are the first mobile phone manufacturer to bring WebGL support to Android web browser.

Mozilla has already brought in the technology in their Firefox browser for Android. Mozilla is not a mobile phone manufacturer; but the Nokia N900 as well as the BlackBerry PlayBook supports WebGL.

Looks like WebGL will be more popular, now that flash for mobile is not going to be there forever.
