Apple MacBook Air New Series to Cross Paths of Ultrabooks in First Quarter of 2012

November 28, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

What could be the next from Cupertino’s iGiants? Reports are that they are working on launching their new MacBook Air series notebooks with panel sizes of 11.6-inch, 13.3-inch and 15-inch.

The devices should hit the market in Q1 2012 with one aim: compete and prove against ultrabooks from PC brand vendors!

The pilot productions of 15 inch models are expected to have, already, started. According to sources from retail channels, Apple should be dropping prices of their existing MacBook Airs before launching the new series.

Also, it’s believed that its introduction should boost Apple’s share, further, in the global notebook market.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday have already seen several channel retailers in the US and Europe dropping their MacBook Air prices to attract consumers.

MacMall, an online shopping site, reduced the 11.6-inch 64GB MacBook Air price to $939.94 from $999. Best Buy, went further down and offered a price of $849.99 for the same.

The 128GB version 11.6-inch MacBook Air and 128GB/256GB 13.3-inch models came with a discount offer of $79-101.

Let’s all wait and see how far this initiative of Apple will succeed in the market. When ultrabooks, with Windows and document processing software, are set to attract the whole enterprise market, Apple’s journey ahead wouldn’t be smooth.
