The newest and probably my favorite industry trend right now is the re-release of old games I played when growing up. It’s great to see titles from the past get revamped with new high definition graphics and get introduced to an entire new audience of gamers who quite possibly weren’t alive when the game was released.
It’s happened quite a few times this year already with Metal Gear Solid HD, Jak and Daxter was just announced, and Shadow of the Colossus and Ico was also re-released. Now another game is getting the HD treatment; the Playstation 2 classic Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.
The upcoming title will undergo a high definition makeover of course and will be “updated to run at 60 frames per second” as well as have “improved audio quality.”
Aside from those changes it’s still the same game we played back in 2003. It will still give about 15-20 hours of gameplay, still have the same qwirky and charming characters, and Rayman will still be missing essential body parts.
We’ve got a nice batch of screenshots from the game below. Let us know if you’re excited for the game in the comments. Then after you do that, go and buy Rayman: Origins and fill your day with happiness.
