Google Ice Cream Sandwich Gives Adobe Flash the Miss; But Just for Now

November 21, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Is the  Samsung Galaxy Nexus missing something? Yes, the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich device seems to have given the Flash Player the miss.

Okay, when you realize that Flash Play doesn’t come pre-installed, chances are that you would head for the Android Market so as to download it. You are sure to be disappointed again, as the list doesn’t offer you that even for download!

Do not be disappointed like there’s no tomorrow! We hear Adobe is in the process of bringing a new mobile Flash version for the Android platform. The new Flash might come in with big changes and improvements that will support playing the content.

It is also rumored that the company is shifting their focus on to the HTML5 mobile platform, which is the best solution for creating and deploying content in the mobile browser. So, you will have to wait for a tad more to get the Flash Player on your Galaxy Nexus.

Meanwhile, Google has confirmed that Flash doesn’t come along with the Nexus and they will upload it, when Adobe releases the latest one.

As you all know, the Android OS had been having an upper hand, because of its ability to support Flash content. They have made it clear that the Ice Cream Sandwich supports the Flash Player and would bring it soon to the devices running ICS.

Stay tuned as we go looking for more on that. We are sure you will not be disappointed when Adobe makes an announcement without much delay.
