Apple 15-inch Air Style Mac Book Pro Ultra-Thin Notebook Getting Ready

November 15, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Apple looks to be busy with their rumored 15-inch Air style MacBook Pro. It has been found that components for the ultra-thin notebook have already started shipping.

This piece of news was brought in by the folks at Digitimes, who says that “a small volume of components” that fit the specifications for the ultra-thin device have reportedly been shipped. Apparently, next year March is the timeline marked for a full-scale device shipping.

We have been hearing about Apple trying to tie in the MacBook Air genes with the Pro lineup, and this snippet of information seems like backing up that rumor.

Solid ideas on the design and specs are still non-existent, and whatever flows in treads the speculative line.

The new notebooks are likely to harbor a new storage solution; something of a hybrid type that combines the super-thin 2.5” HDD with an SSD or flash storage. Which means the optical drive would be done away with.

And, the Pro line would be apt to receive the feature because of the space it provides and it is also less cash-conscious than the Air. Getting the devices ready in time for the March shipment would fall in place with Apple’s scheduling.

But we don’t know whether that will happen as we have nothing confirmed from the company. Apple might take time on testing and developing the new products, so March is just a castle in the air.

But since we heard about the component shipment now, it is very likely that we will be hearing more soon. So hang around with us while we gather the berries.
