Vooma Peel PG92 Case Adds Dual-SIM Capabilities to Jail-broken iPhones

November 9, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Looking to add dual SIM capabilities to your iPhone 4 or 4S? Here’s something that could excite you big time. Vooma has announced a unique iPhone case called Peel PG92 which could work with a jail broken iPhone to add the dual- SIM feature.

An interesting feature about Peel PG92 is that it comes with a backup battery that can charge your iPhone. Sounds interesting, right?

Once you jail break your iPhone, you can download the Vooma app and start controlling the phone inside the case to make calls using an SIM card.

As of now, the details of this device are scarce, but you can request for more information on the device by registering your email address at the Vooma website.

Rumors are that the case is compatible only with mini-SIM cards and not with micro-SIM cards that fit into the iPhone 4 and 4S.

Also, this external SIM card would allow you to make only voice calls. Data calls are not supported as it uses its own app. However, you can use your internal SIM for voice as well as data calls even when the case is installed.

Once you set Peel PG92 up, it should work seamlessly just like your Apple interface. Though minor trade offs are there, in general, Vooma app is believed to have recreated its major functionality.

Also, Peel PG92 should work without problems on any jail broken iPhone and should appeal to international travelers more. It would be bliss to them if they could install a prepaid SIM card from a local carrier without unlocking their iPhone from a domestic carrier.

Though PG92 seems like a good pick, it’s little bigger than a standard iPhone case size and that could be a concern with a few. However, we have to wait and see how it would perform in the market. What do you think? Is it worth going for?
