Xbox Next Version Codenamed Loop; To Be Based on Windows 9

November 8, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Okay, this is the latest Xbox rumor. The next version of the console will run on the modified version of Windows 9.

We hear the next version of the console, currently codenamed Loop, will use a Zune HD like hardware platform and will have a single main processor that is joined by “multiple dedicated assistive cores for graphics, AI, physics, sound, networking, encryption and sensors”.

It has been revealed that the console will be smaller and cheaper than the Xbox 360 (pictured), further enabling Kinect adoption, and will run a modified version of Windows 9.

The info comes courtesy of MS Nerd, who revealed the info, which is based on “rumors, tips and speculation”.

It will also demonstrate how Windows Phone could possible implement Win 9’s development platform at the lower end.

Also, rumor has it that the console will be custom designed as a joint venture between Microsoft and two partners based on ARM architecture.

Guys, please note that the next Xbox is not coming in the next couple of years. And so, the information could be liable to change. However, keep a watch here as we go looking for more on that.
