Pioneer Zypr Unveiled; a Free Siri-like Platform

November 8, 2011, By Leo Xavier

One of the best features of the Apple iPhone 4S is Siri, the voice assistant that helps you to get things done just by asking. But that feature is currently limited to only the iPhone 4S (and the iPhone 4 thanks to an enthusiastic developer) and will most likely be available only on iOS gadgets.

But now, it appears like you won’t have to wait anxiously for the arrival of Siri on other devices.

Pioneer has just introduced a free platform called Zypr that will allow you to enjoy intelligent voice-controlled assistance features similar to that of Siri.

The best thing about Zypr is that it is not limited to a single mobile operating system. The feature can be used on tablets, smartphones, and other consumer electronic devices, including in-vehicle entertainment systems and smart TVs.

The Pioneer Zypr understands your natural voice commands and is capable of doing many tasks.

It can complete tasks such as finding local restaurants or telling you about weather conditions, and there will be no need for you to navigate through your device.

Developers will definitely be happy with the new platform since it gives them more freedom to integrate features. The Zypr is a free and open platform, and is cloud-based. It is accessible via API.

The new idea of a standard way of controlling everything using your natural voice seems to be awesome, although a bit scary as well. Let us wait and see what all changes Zypr brings to the way we enjoy technology.
