November 7, 2011, By Leo Xavier

If you are planning to get a new dual-core handset with a 720p HD display in the near future, we encourage you to wait for a while. SONY Ericsson appears to have been working on a new device that will be launched on the market in the coming months to play against all the big boys.

A new leak has brought out the specs and pictures of the upcoming SONY Ericsson Nozomi (aka SONY Ericsson XPERIA Arc HD) Android smartphone.

The device, which will debut at CES in two months, is currently running on the Gingerbread OS but might pack Ice Cream Sandwich when it arrives later on.

According to available info, the Nozomi will come equipped with a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, 1GB of RAM, as well as rear and front-facing camera.

The handset will also feature a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and an LED illuminated menu strip below the display which also wraps around the back side of the device.

And it appears like the leak has also revealed the device’s Quadrant benchmark numbers. The Quadrant score of 1,800 might not be impressive but it suggests that the device’s performance should be on par with HTC handsets like the Amaze 4G and Vigor, and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

More info on the device is expected to be available soon. We will let you know when that happens. So stay tuned.
