November 4, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

It has been quite a while ago that we first heard of a Facebook phone from the Moto stables. After a lull, the grapevine is abuzz yet again with talk of Telus getting ready to launch Motorola’s Motokey Social, a prepaid feature phone that offers basic access to Gmail, Facebook and Twitter.

Offered in a stylish and slender form factor, the device comes with a dedicated Facebook button. However, if you are visualizing a smartphone, you need to take another look at the product. Motokey Social may not be seen as a smartphone, but a basic mobile phone that comes with a full QWERTY keyboard option.

It comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen with 262k colors support and 320 x 240 pixels resolution, 3 MB camera with digital zoom, fixed focus and video recording capabilities, 64 MB of RAM, 128MB of ROM, a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), Wi-Fi 802.11b/g connectivity, microUSB 2.0 High Speed and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR support.

This handset, which also features GPRS / EDGE class 10, comes with GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and WCDMA 850/1900 network support and is powered by a 910 mAh Li-Ion battery which is expected to give a back up of 8 hours of continuous usage or a standby time of up to 28 days.

Since no official announcements on price or release date have been made, we have to wait patiently to learn more about the phone.

Overall, it seems a good pick for youngsters who would be looking forward to own a stylish ‘social’ phone. Let us know what you think about this phone in the comments space below.
