Dell has launched their new Dell XPS 14z, with which they hope to create a boost in their market share.

This new Dell product is an ultra-thin notebook which the company hopes will be a fitting rival to the Apple’s MacBooks as well as the other notebooks out there.

The XPS 14z is a 14-inch notebook and runs Windows 7 operating system, and the device is available with a variety of configurations to suit your needs. The device looks good in the new design and packs beefier specs, so should be a hot contender in the market.

The specifications list boasts of an Intel Core i5-2430M or Core i7-2640M processor, a DDR3 SDRAM which can be expanded up to 8GB and a hefty storage space of 750GB. The integration of an Intel HD Graphics 3000 or NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M graphics makes sure you get the best of graphics from media and games.

The Dell notebook sports an LG Shuriken display, which stuffs a 14-inch screen into a chassis that is normally reserved for 13-inch systems. The starting weight of the device is 4.36 pounds, and it is lighter than most laptops you would find.

The base model starts at $1000, and the XPS 14z, at a rate of $1199, is at the same price as Apple’s ultraportable. That brings the two company products into a hot race.

The device is pricey, but you just heard the specs. What do you think?
