Twitter Timeline Update Quietly Rolled Out [Video]

October 26, 2011, By Leo Xavier

Twitter appears to have been working on an expandable timeline and they have quietly started rolling out the update. The newly released update will allow users to see media and related information inside the timeline instead of on the sidebar.

The new info comes to us via Pinglio’s Patrick Bisch who added a video (posted below) on YouTube which allows us to take a peek at the redesigned timeline.

The new update will allow you to click individual tweets to expand conversations, media, and retweets.

When hovering over a tweet, an “Open” link is produced which can be clicked to open the tweet. This will let you know who retweeted your message, as well as view the entire threaded conversation. You just have to click on the “Close” link to close the expanded tweet.

A tweet, which has been retweeted, when clicked will reveal a horizontal list of those who retweeted it.

Clicking a tweet with media, such as a TwitPic image or video from YouTube, will expand a window inside the timeline to view the media.

You can view someone’s profile in a single frame above your timeline just by clicking the individual’s Twitter handle.

Twitter hasn’t commented on the matter, but many users are already enjoying the redesigned timeline. Check out the video and be sure to comment about it below.
