Netflix Coming To The UK And Ireland In Early 2012

October 24, 2011, By Christian Davis

I don’t know how the UK and Ireland lived without Netflix for so long. Having a rather large amount of television series and movies at your disposal to watch instantly on just about any device is something that has become cemented in my life. Thankfully, they won’t have to live without it for too much longer. Netflix will be making it’s way to Ireland and the United Kingdom in early 2012. It took a while for Netflix to expand outside of the United States and the aforementioned countries definitely had the longest wait. Netflix was introduced in the US in 2007 and then took three years  for it to hit Canada and 43 other countries in Latin America and  the Caribbean in September 2011.

The service will be available on several devices such as the Xbox 360, Playsttion 3, Wii, internet connected TV’s, etc… In the UK there’s already  a Netflix type of service called “Sky” which streams movies, sports, news, and several other types of broadcast media. Netflix may not replace this service since its exclusive to television and films though it could hinder business for that company.

If you live in either the UK or Ireland, head over to Netflix’s website and sign up to receive an email alert for the arrival of Netflix.
