HTC Looks to Roll Out Ice Cream Sandwich On As Many Devices as Possible

October 24, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Are you among those thousands out there who are looking forward to owning an Android 4.0 device? Well then, HTC is looking forward to offering the platform on as many devices as possible.

It looks like the company is planning an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for their devices.

HTC said that the upgrades require a careful balance of hardware and software to ensure the best possible performance and usability, and requested the customers to stay tuned as the company assesses their product portfolio.

HTC’s goal is to upgrade as many HTC devices as possible and it will be sharing details on specific devices and timing in the coming weeks

We do not have a list of the devices that will get the upgrade, but these are the possible ones, ranging from low- to high-end smartphones: Amaze 4G, Raider 4G, Sensation, Sensation XE and some fast single core ones like the Sensation XL.

But it should be noted that Android 4.0 might demand more from your device. Smartphones like the Nexus S suggests that a device should have at least a 1GHz processor to support Android 4.0. Plus there is no guaranteed upgrade path.
