Verizon HTC Rhyme Needs Likes So That You get a Discount

Verizon is embarking on a marketing tactic for the HTC Rhyme. The smartphone is said to be targeted towards the women folk, and the carrier is looking to make it a hit and a likable product even before it launches.

If you take a detour through the Verizon Facebook page, you will find out their advertising as well as marketing through the social network population.

They have put up a deal for the smartphone where they will give a discount depending on the number of likes Facebook users give the deal.


As of now, there are more than 1000 likes, which should be around 35% discount. If users keep at it and rake in around 2000 likes within the next 5 days that could get the discount up by another 25%.

If you are interested in getting the Rhyme, then you could go over and sign up for Verizon’s “Group Buy” on their Facebook page. That would ensure you get a notification mail from the carrier when they call a stop to their deal and put up the discount.

It is quite a novel and clever way to get the interest of consumers piqued. If the carrier gets a successful run on the deal, we might be able to like more of such discount offers in the future.
