Sony Ericsson 2011 Smartphones to Get Android Ice Cream Sandwich Update

Sony Ericsson fans you will love to hear this. The company is all set to bring the latest Android OS update into your phones. They have confirmed that the 2011 handsets will be getting the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update very soon. Along with the HTC and Motorola,

Though the Android update is promised, the company has not yet revealed the exact time as to when it will reach users’ handsets.

Some of the phones to get the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update will be the Xperia Ray, Play, Play 4G, neo, neo V, mini pro and Xperia Arc.

The new revelation comes thanks to a Facebook post  by Sony Ericsson Netherlands.

Our gut feel tells us that the company might release the update by next year. Going by the Facebook post, Sony Ericsson  has also promised that more details will be seen in the official blog in the coming weeks.

This upgrade from the Android version 2.3.4 to 4.0 shows Sony’s interest in Android-powering their smartphones. You might remember the company’s announcement just days ago spoke about plans for an added focus on the smartphone models that are to come.

Sony, with this Android update, might look at rising in position in the smartphone industry too. Stay tuned for an official confirmation on this Android upgrade for Xperia devices.
