Motorola Admiral to be available from Sprint on October 23rd; Costs $100 with 2 Year Contract

Sprint has announced that the Motorola Admiral Android smartphone will be available from the carrier on October 23rd. The device is coming with a price tag of $99.99 with a new two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

What’s new about this device is that it is the first Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) PTT handset that comes with support for Sprint’s new CDMA-based Direct Connect network.

The device comes equipped with a 3.1-inch VGA touchscreen display along with a full QWERTY keyboard and military spec toughness.


The new device meets Military Standard 810G for dust, shock, vibration, solar radiation, low pressure and high and low temperatures. The device’s display is scratch-resistant all thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass.

The device also features a 1.2GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p video and it is capable of sharing its 3G connection with other Wi-Fi devices with Mobile Hotspot.

You will also get 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and 4GB of internal storage. And the microSD card slot supports cards of up to 32GB.

The device also comes with Google mobile services, including Google Maps, Google Talk, Gmail and Google Voice. And the Android Market will give you access to more than 250,000 applications, widgets and games.
