Google Reader Update to Arrive Next Week with Google+ Integration

October 21, 2011, By Leo Xavier

Google will be releasing an update to their RSS Reader application in the coming week. The update is coming with some requested changes including a new design and Google+ integration. The update will also clean up the application a bit.

First of all, the update will introduce a brand-new user interface design. The update will also bring Reader and Google+ closer together.

Integration with Google+ will allow you to share your favorite feeds with your friends and followers. But all these changes mean a bit of cleaning as well.

The social features that are currently available with the Reader application will be available via Google+ after the update.

Therefore, in a week you can say goodbye to things like friending, following and shared link blogs inside of Reader.

The search giant has promised that everything will be better than what’s currently available and we encourage those of you who don’t have a Google+ account to sign up right away so that you can prepare Reader-specific circles.

And Google understands that some of you may not like the new changes. That’s why they have made available data export tools which allow you to take items such as your subscriptions, shared items, friends, likes and starred items with you to another application.

Stay tuned for more updates.
