Gears of War 3’s Horde Command Pack Comes With New Characters, Skins, And More

October 4, 2011, By Christian Davis

Shortly after the release of Gears we’ve already got word of the first batch of DLC for Epic’s fantastic finale to the Gears of War trilogy. Though it’s not any story based DLC just yet, but the newly announced Horde Command Pack game add-on will definitely please all their fans. For Gear of War 3’s first DLC pack we’ll be receiving: three new multiplayer maps, three new playable characters,  two new weapon skins, new fortification upgrades for Horde 2.0 and an addition 250 Gamerscore. If you have Gears of War’s  Season pass, you’ve already got these otherwise you’ll have to spend 800 Microsoft Points for all the goodies.

Since you’ve probably been hooked on Horde 2.0 (like myself) we’ll go into a bit more detail on the fortification upgrades first. There are four upgrades: Command Center,  Decoy Upgrade,  Sentry Upgrade, and  the Silverback upgrade. The command center upgrade is a brand new type of fortification that allows you to call in fire support from sniper teams, mortar strikes and even multiple Hammers of Dawn. This is definitely the most useful in my opinion.

The decoy upgrade turns your decoy into an Onyx Guard bot, the sentry upgrade adds a fire bolt sentry that deals much more damage and is very effective against Berserkers, and the silver back upgrade allows you to upgrade your Silverback exo-suit with devastating rockets and extra levels of repair cost reduction.

The new characters, skins, and maps are also some awesome additions to the game. The more of these the merrier. I could talk about them, but I could just show you instead. Check out the gallery below and let us know what you think. Onyx Guards are too cool.
