Nokia Sabre Revealed in Name by Microsoft Canada

September 30, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

There have been talks of Nokia’s Windows Phones but we haven’t heard anything official from the Finnish manufacturer. All through the rumors, the one name that had caught on was the Nokia Sea Ray, and even that didn’t hold much detail.

It was when we waited expectantly for someone to make a slip somewhere that Microsoft Canada took its turn of stumbling up a new name. The Nokia Sabre, apparently an unknown device to date, has been put down as a Windows Phone 7.5 handset.

The name was found lurking in the terms and conditions page for a Microsoft Canada Mango app contest, where the company had accidentally spelled out four unannounced Windows Phone 7.5 handsets. The Nokia Sabre accompanies Nokia Searay, Samsung Yukon and a Samsung Wembley, out of which the Sea Ray is the only recognizable name of the bunch.

The names have been removed from the company, but the line went like this:

“The estimated retail value of the phone is $600.00. The type of Windows Phone 7.5 will vary and will be selected at Microsoft’s choosing (examples include Samsung Yukon, Samsung Wembley, NOKIA Searay and NOKIA Sabre).”

Now we know about one more Nokia handsets to look out for, though unfortunately we have no hardware or software details. There is, however, a rumor that points out the Sabre with having a 3.7-inch screen and a MicroSIM card.

We will be keeping our ears open for another slip up, and meanwhile you can update us on what you think about Nokia’s WP 7 devices.
