September 28, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Toshiba is coming up with its new version of Thrive. Earlier the company had released the 10-inch Thrive tablet in July. Compared to the previous Thrive model, the new tablet comes with changes in screen size, weight, thickness and Android OS.

The new Thrive boasts a 7-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 800, replacing the usual 7-inch 1024 x 600 display. The compact tablet coming in a 0.47-inch thick body, weighs just 0.88 pounds and the light weight ensures that it can be easily gripped.

The Android 3.2 Honeycomb (with a stability question in the air) powered slate is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor. There is, under the covers, 1 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB built-in memory.

You get two sets of shooters, namely a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front snapper for video calls. The other specs include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, mini HDMI, miniUSB, micro SD slot, a docking port, Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The AutoBrite LED Backlit HD multi-touch display will allow you to enjoy games, movies, music and photos on the portable tablet. The 7-inch Thrive also allows features like unlimited browsing, multitasking and downloading of the latest apps from the Android Market.

The new Thrive is scheduled for a November release and may be priced around $ 400. Nothing’s confirmed yet so stay tuned to know the official word.
