Amazon Kindle Fire Android Tablet Launch Just a Few Hours Away

September 27, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

This calls for celebration. Amazon’s new Android tablet christened Kindle Fire is expected to launch at a special event the company is organizing on September 28th.

The tablet – one of the most awaited devices – has been a hot topic in the tablet world for quite a while now. Amazon has already sent invitations for the big press conference that will get underway in New York on that date – guys, that’s just a few hours from now.

The Kindle Fire is believed to sport a 7-inch back-lit display, and we guess that is identical to what the BlackBerry PlayBook sports.

Both the devices designed by the same original design manufacturer – Quanta – may be a reason for this similarity.

What we are sure about is that the tablet will be better than the PlayBook in the area of software, content and so on. (The image you see is a mock up by guys at TechCrunchFor this slate, Amazon has come up with a self customized Android and a separate Android Appstore.

You will also be able to play with Amazon’s MP3 service and the Kindle bookstore along with the tablet.

It is expected that the device might start shipping after the second week of November. Likely to be powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core OMAP processor, the device will also make the most of Amazon’s last minute deal with Fox for video streaming of movies and TV shows. This, we think, strengthens the chance of tablet to be seen at the Wednesday conclave.

Expected to carry a price tag of $ 250, we are just waiting for Wednesday to dawn. And, we know that’s just a handful of hours away. Join us as join the celebration.
