Samsung Galaxy S II Surpasses 10-Million Sales Mark in Just 5 Months

September 26, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Samsung Galaxy S II is setting new landmarks. From launch on, the Android handset just cruised smoothly and reached 120,000 units sale in the first three days in South Korea.

The latest is that the device has surpassed the 10 million mark in just 5 months in global sales and looks set for more.

Samsung affirms that the Galaxy S II is the fastest selling phone in the company’s history. The handset broke the company’s previous records set by the Star Phone in 6 months and Galaxy S in 7 months to reach the 10 million sales.

The Galaxy S II has achieved some regional sales record also. If you are looking for stats, Korea leads with 3.6 million units sold, just behind Europe with 3.4 million and Asia with 2.3 million. One aspect to note here is that the phone has just started its sales in the US.

We think there is nothing unusual about the huge success of this ultra-thin handset as it comes with smart impressive features like a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 16GB memory, dual cameras: an 8-megapixel rear shooter and 2-megapixel front snapper, NFC, Bluetooth 3.0, HSPA + and much more.

It will be interesting to see how the Apple’s iPhone 5, scheduled for launch in early October, and the Galaxy S II move in the global market thereafter. Where do you think will the pacing Galaxy S II reach from here?
