Samsung Galaxy S 2 Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread Leaked Update Available for Download

September 26, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

If you, a Samsung Galaxy S 2 owner and have been waiting for that Android 2.3.4 to update from your current Android 2.3.3, then there’s a leaked Gingerbread update waiting to get downloaded. The leaked version of the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread sports a build date of September 15th.

The firmware version is I9100XXKI3, which translates to European version 3, dated September 15. This is not the official stuff, so if you are going ahead with the update, then be sure of the risks involved.

The version number, which has jumped from .3 to .4, indicates that the changes the update carries are minor. So while the update news is tempting, it’s best not to indulge in the unknown.

If you wait patiently, the Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread official update should be not long in coming in the form of Over-The-Air (OTA) update, which is probably the best thing to do. But then if you have enough guts to endure the consequences, go ahead with the leaked ROM, but make sure that you backup all the important data, in case your phone loses its marbles in the middle of the update.

Leaked versions have been known to work before, but there have also been instances of the update tampering with your phone. You can get the leaked ROM over here.
