Playstation 3 Gets Battlefield 3 DLC First

September 22, 2011, By Christian Davis

Whether timed exclusives really sway your opinion or not,  it seems to be a big deal to the publishers. The biggest modern war franchise, Call of Duty, has all it’s downloadable content show up first on the Xbox 360 and then some time later on the Playstation 3. They make a big deal out of these things in an attempt to drive more customers to their console. If that’s the case, then a lot more people are going to buy EA’s Battlefield 3 on the Playstation 3. Any add-ons for Battlefield 3 will appear first on the Playstation 3. Then a week later it will appear on the Xbox 360.

The first bit of DLC will be the “Back to Karkand” which brings four multiplayer maps from Battlefield 2 rebuilt in the Frostbite 2.0 engine. The expansion comes with the first run copies on all platforms, but will not be available for download immediately.

If you are eagerly awaiting Battlefield 3 like myself, then you can play the open beta that arrives on September 29th. The beta will be available on the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3. So if you don’t see any of my posts on here for a while, now you know why.

Who’s looking forward to Battlefield 3? Let us know in the comments.
