Apple iMessage Coming to OS X Lion’s iChat

Apple loves to unify features across their devices to make things easier for all you iUsers out there.

The latest on that line is the iMessage, a unified chat messaging service for iPhone, iPad and iPad Touch, unveiled back in June 2011. The new feature will launch with iOS 5, which is expected to arrive soon.

Apple is reportedly building iMessage into OS X Lion’s iChat service.

The new-found  strings of code for “timeDelivered” and “timeRead” are not supported by the protocols used in iChat so far. But iOS 5 uses these and Apple might bring this into OS X Lion as well.

Apple had done something similar with the Face Time, extending the iOS video conferencing feature to the Mac with the launch of Face Time for Mac back in February.

Apple’s current plan to bring cross compatibility to Mac and iOS product lines would mean that you would be able to use the iMessage feature, regardless of whether you are using a MacBook or iPad.

We are yet to find out when Apple will launch the iChat support for iMessage, but the company definitely seems to be working on it.
