Sony PlayStation Vita Initial Setup and UI Demonstrated on Video

Sony wants to keep talking about their upcoming PlayStation Vita for months ahead of its arrival. The company has begun teasing the device with live demonstrations of the PS Vita. At the SCEJ press conference a while ago, there was a quick walkthrough the initial setup procedure plus the first look at the interface in action.

The set up procedure is same as any of today’s handheld gaming device. You simply select your region, create or log into your PSN account, then enter your birthday. The user interface appeals best to smartphone users with a cloud of large, friendly app icons across Vita’s five inch touchscreen.

Sony also showed off a few media applications on the Vita; a pair of movie trailers and concurrently running the device’s music player and photo viewer.

The company also suggested that cross-app multitasking is compatible with games as well. You can hop out of a game session, pop into a Twitter app, and then jump back into the game.

More details are on the way.

In the meantime, watch the video below and let us know if you are impressed enough to get your hands on a PlayStation Vita when it arrives this December. Or does Sony need to do more?
