LG Optimus Black Identified

September 13, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

A few days ago, a shot of an LG Marquee riding on Sprint was spotted. At that time, rumors followed the shot saying that the Marquee was possibly the LG Optimus Black.

The device had looked like the Black and since it was expected to be arriving on Sprint, we had thought the Marquee was the Optimus Black. Now, we have confirmed news that the Marquee is indeed the LG Optimus Black, thanks to some Sprint Cellebrite data.

Cellebrite’s products are often used to transfer contact information from one handset to another and the data was recently updated to include information on new phones before the handsets had arrived. The recently updated list identified the LG Marquee as model LS-855, in the master list of Sprint phones.

As we all know, the model LS-855 refers to the LG Optimus Black, and so we have the proof that the Marquee is indeed the LG device. LG had announced the Optimus Black at CES 2011.

Its 4-inch NOVA display with a brightness of 700 nits makes it one of the brightest mobile displays on shelves. Unfortunately, we haven’t much to go on at this point.

We don’t know when it will be out in the markets, but hopefully it should be soon. With one Marquee mystery solved, there are others for which we are digging for clues.

Stay with us and we will let you know as soon as something comes up.
