Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray in the UK this Month on O2 and Vodafone

September 7, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

UK customers who have been waiting to know as to when they would get to play with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray are sure to be excited. For the phone is coming your way this month. Sony Ericsson, if you remember, had said that we need to expect the device in September itself. Carriers O2 and Vodafone have listed the phone as ‘coming soon’ this month. That means, Sony Ericsson is keeping their word.

The device features a 3.3 inch scratch resistant Reality display (854 x 480) screen with an incredible viewing angle, and packs a Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset with 1GHz Scorpion processor and Mobile Bravia engine. The 9.4 mm thick Xperia Ray was first announced in July and seems to sit below the Xperia Arc in the range.

It has an 8 megapixel camera with Exmore R technology and f/2.4 lens for crisp and clear photos in low light conditions. It also has a 720p HD movie mode. Plus there is a front facing camera. The Xperia Ray runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS.

Though the device is sure to arrive in September, there is no word on the exact date of the launch. We will need to wait for the company or the carriers to tell us that.

If you prefer having a compact phone, the Xperia Ray is a good option to consider. If you are looking forward to the arrival of the phone, would you prefer O2 or Vodafone as your wireless provider?
