Halo Creative Director Leaves Halo 4

September 6, 2011, By Christian Davis

The brand new Halo trilogy developed by Microsoft’s own 343 Industries has just lost a valuable asset to the team. Halo Creative Director Ryan Payton not only left the Halo 4 project, but Microsoft as well. Why the sudden change of heart? In an interview with Kotaku, he stated that he wasn’t creatively excited about the project anymore.

“The Halo I wanted to build was fundamentally different and I don’t think I had built enough credibility to see such a crazy endeavor through.” Payton added. Now don’t go and write the new trilogy off. Ryan doesn’t think the game will be bad at all. It’s just not the Halo that he wanted to make.

So what’s next for Ryan? He’s created his own studio called Camoflaj and it’s already working on two titles.  Stating that he wants to create a game that one billion people play at once and hits them harder than a  great book or film.

A billion people playing at once? Hint at a possible MMO? We’ll have to wait and see what Payton and the rest of Camoflaj has coming down the pipeline. Hopefully we’ll hear something about it at E3 2012.
