Gears of War 3 Season Pass Available On September 20th; First DLC Coming In November

August 29, 2011, By Christian Davis

It’s safe to say that the season pass feature in games is a new trend and will probably be here to stay. It appeared with Rockstar’s L.A. Noire, NeatherRealm’s Mortal Kombat, and now it’s made it’s way to Epic’s Gears of War 3. The announcement of the season pass is also an indication that we will have more content coming to Gears of War 3 after the game ships in a few weeks.

The Gears of War 3 season pass gives players the first four batches of downloadable content that will be released over the course  of the next year. The first will be released in November.

The press release states that the DLC will add “hours of campaign and multiplayer mayhem.” Multiplayer was a given, but the campaign add-ons are enticing. That leaves open the possibilities for side stories or additional missions to further expand on the Gears of War lore.

The season pass will cost 2400 Microsoft Points and will save gamers 33 percent on purchases as opposed to buying each add-on individually. Still not convinced? The fact that you can save money doesn’t tickle your fancy? Fine. How about an exclusive Liquid Metal Weapon Set? All players who purchase the  season pass will get the weapon set (shown below). Now you can pretend you’re the liquid metal cop in Terminator 2!

Gears of War 3 will be available on September 20th.
