Apple Starting Life without Steve at the Helm; Jobs Predicts Innovative Times Ahead

August 25, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Steve Jobs has called it quits, and that has been the most discussed piece of news for a while now. The most important question that arises now is as to what Apple will look like, in the post-Jobs scenario.

With the exit of Jobs, Apple may may be losing some sheen – a tad at least. Though the Cupertino company hasn’t told us anything about life after Steve, Apple seems to have their strategies in place to make believe that nothing has changed though the man who has shaped the fruity major to its present form is gone.

Jobs, who had come back to Apple after the Cupertino company’s acquisition of NeXT in 1996, has been the life and soul of the company’s operations. The turnaround from a player in the brink of bankruptcy came mainly due to his well etched strategies.

Jobs lifted Apple to the position of the second-most valuable company in the world.  Many a products have been introduced by this man, and this role might now be taken off him as he settles down as the company’s chairman of the board.

It will now be Tim Cook’s role as CEO to drive growth and products. Cook has been a man to watch all throughout his tenure with Apple.

Particularly, his capabilities to run the company’s operations when Jobs was absent on three separate occasions had been noteworthy.

It now remains to be seen how Cook will take a rival major head on, without Jobs nowhere around. We now need to also look for the man who will replace Cook as COO.

As Jobs says in his resignation,

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role”.

Sure thing, Steve!
