BlackBerry Bold 9900 Slated for Month-End Release

August 23, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The BlackBerry 9900 is waiting at the threshold, to help RIM put up a fight in the smartphone race. The past months have seen the company as a sinking ship in growing Android waters, and hopefully, the new product will turn out to be a lifeboat.

Even during the dim hours, BlackBerry has a band of dedicated followers, so the new launch should be at least something for them to rejoice about. The smartphone has a 1.2GHz processor powering it and it is running the new Blackberry 7 operating system.

With its 4G HSPA+ power, the company promises “the ultimate in communications, multimedia and productivity”. After all said and done about the company, it is a fact that BlackBerry offers the best in email services, but unfortunately, in these competing times, that alone doesn’t score much.

The 4G-capable BlackBerry Bold 9900 is, reportedly, the thinnest smartphone to be released, at a thickness of 10.5mm. The handset will be carrying a set of new applications and features when it arrives, which includes the latest release of BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) and an updated Social Feeds (2.0) app.

The Bold 9900 will be available on August 31st. The price you will pay is $299.99 after a $50 mail in rebate.
