Apple iPad 3 Likely for Q1 of 2012

Rumors are adding to the speculation that Apple might be launching their new iPad 3 in the early part of 2012. According to latest reports, Apple is working with component suppliers and its assembler in Asia for its next generation iPad.

The Cupertino company has ordered key components such as display panels and chips for the iPad3.  One component supplier also told that Apple has already placed orders for parts for about 1.5 million iPad 3’s in the fourth quarter.

The next generation iPad 3 is expected to be equipped with a 2048 x 1536 resolution display which is double the present resolution of 1024 x 768 screen. Suppliers said that the company has placed orders for a 9.7-inch screen device.

Apple’s strategy of hiring manufacturing specialists, to assemble its gadgets, frees them from running complicated, labor-intensive production lines, while the ability of Taiwanese companies (from where specialists are hired) to slash manufacturing costs eventually helps them in cutting product price.

The new iPad will intensify the on-going competition in the marketplace since companies like Samsung Electronics, Motorola Mobility Holdings, ZTE Corp and Toshiba have launched similar devices on Android platform. Apple has filed several lawsuits against Samsung electronics over alleged patent infringement.

It’s highly probable that Apple has scheduled the launch of iPad 3 between the months of January and March, which suits its traditional schedule.
