Samsung Hercules Screenshot Surfaces; to Ride on Telus

August 18, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Here is the Hercules from Samsung, running free with the Telus label etched on it. Rumors, like always, accompany the gadget foretelling of an imminent launch on the Canadian network.

The leaked image and snide comments set the Hercules on the same bench as the Galaxy S II. Setting aside the differences in their exterior topography, both the devices are said to pack similar hardware components.

The Hercules has a 4.5-inch display with a different button layout than the Galaxy S II. Along with the capacitive menu, home, back and search buttons, it’s got a 2 megapixel front camera and an 8 megapixel rear shooter.

Under the device’s cover lies a 1.2GHz dual core Exynos processor coupled with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of Android 2.3. The Android treat will be Canada’s first dual carrier 42 Mbps smartphone that has scored an impressive 3,359 on a Quadrant benchmark.

We have no word on the pricing yet, nor have heard about its launch. But rest assured, those bit of news will be along shortly.

We hear that a T-Mobile variant will be hopping along in October, so hang around and you will get to hear about it.
