Apple iPhone 5 Likely for October 7th; Pre-Orders Rumored for September End

August 17, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The iPhone 5 has created quite a wind of rumors over the past few weeks and not a day has passed without somebody saying at least a word about the latest and most eagerly awaited Apple product. Over the weeks, we have been treated to many rumors on the phone’s functions, designs and release windows.

Now, we have heard that the company plans to release the fifth generation phone on a Friday, and more specifically, on October 7th. This hasn’t received the official nod yet, but we hear Apple will most probably start with offering pre-orders for the new iPhone.

This new behavior of Apple is expected to flag off towards the end of September, and rumors debate between September 29th (a Thursday) and September 30th (a Friday) as the pre-order start date. We have waited for long for the Cupertino company to introduce us to the device. Instead the company had delayed the phone and treated us to the iOS 5, the new Mac OS X Lion (a fortnight old), and the brand new Apple storage service, iCloud (due for the late 2011).

The fifth generation smartphone is expected to carry a dual-core A5 processor coupled with iOS 5 under the covers and pack an 8-megapixel camera. The phone, expected to be in a very thin and sleek form, will also be carrying a bundle of new features like the voice-based navigation system and panorama photography techniques.

Going by the current information (which, we repeat, is not the official word), suppliers will be getting their orders for the iPhone 5 units from the company, and with the pre-order process, customers might be able to get their iPhone shipped to their address by the 7th of October. Since the company has kept changing their launch dates in the past, there’s no reason why they won’t do it again.

So keep your heads up for any info coming your way and let us know.
