Nokia N9 MeeGo Unlocked Smartphone Listed on Amazon; Could Make US Customers Happy

August 15, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Nokia fans in the US and the UK were left high and dry following the announcement that spoke of the non-arrival of the Finnish phone maker’s N9 MeeGo smartphone in these markets. Even as potential customers were left to worry and wait for the next Windows Phone 7 creations from the company, retailer Amazon has taken a positive step with regard to the MeeGo.

In what could be seen as a whiff of hope for the US customers who have been looking to get hold of the device, Amazon has listed a SIM-free version of the N9 smartphone on their website.

If you head for Amazon, you will be able to find the Nokia N9 SIM-free Smartphone listed for $500 for the 32GB model and $650 for the 64GB model.

Expected to ship on September 23rd, the N9 being made available for the regions Nokia wouldn’t comes as laudable. Considering that there are potential buyers in these markets, we think the Amazon move needs to be applauded.

Though unlocked, the N9 coming to their hands will be appreciated by customers looking to play with the device.  The device which comes with a 3.9-inch AMOLED display  of 854×480 resolution will hold within itself 16 to 64 GB memory, 1GB RAM, support for Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, compass and GPS.

An 8 megapixel F2.2 camera capable of 720p video is another feature they can look forward to. Cased in a polycarbonate shell, the phone will boast applications that are Qt 4.7 compatible and will have built in HTML5 support. A choice of three colors will also be offered. US fans of Nokia, are you happy now?
