Google To Buy Motorola Mobility

August 15, 2011, By Christian Davis

How much would Google be willing to pay for Motorola Mobility? $12.5 billion  apparently. Google wants to boost their presence in the mobile market and this is definitely a way to do so.

The acquisition is expected to be completed by the start of next year at the latest. This will definitely strengthen Google’s mobile presence thanks to Motorola’s Android user base.

“Motorola Mobility’s total commitment to Android has created a natural fit for our two companies,” said Larry Page, Google CEO in a statement. “Together, we will create amazing user experiences that supercharge the entire Android ecosystem for the benefit of consumers, partners and developers. I look forward to welcoming Motorolans to our family of Googlers.”

Google Says that they will continue to treat Android as an open ended platform and keep Motorola as a separate company. So what this could mean is that the new Google+ Games could be integrated with our Android devices. That way I can brag to my friends about my incredibly high scores on Angry Birds while on the go.

Sounds like fun to me.
