EA Unveils Battlefield 3 Limited Edition and Pre-Order Bonuses

August 4, 2011, By Christian Davis

The only competitor to Activision’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is EA’s Battlefield 3. Gamers are split over which is better but regardless of their opinions, each title will sell tons of copies. Today, EA revealed the limited edition copy of Battlefield 3 and what pre-order bonuses you can receive from select retailers.

The Battlefield 3 Limited Edition comes with three remastered maps from Battlefield 2 (Strike at KarkandGulf of Oman and the Sharqi Peninsula). To receive these maps all you need to do is pre-order and you’ll automatically be bumped up to the Limited Edition. If you don’t pre-order then you can purchase the maps for $14.99.

Pre-ordering also comes with other benefits as well. Depending on which retailer you choose, you can receive different in game items.

Pre-ordering from Bestbuy will give players the Spectact Kit Upgrade(shown below). That comes with eight multiplayer skins; one for each class (on both factions) in Battlefield 3.

Pre-ordering from Gamestop comes with the Physical Warfare pack. Which comes with:

  1. The Type 88 light machine gun with bipod for deadly firepower and total zone control;
  2. The SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor that provides increased stealth abilities for Reconsoldiers; and
  3. The lethal armor-piercing flechette ammo for the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun that will tear through anything in its path. Each weapon will be available for a limited time in-game, and will later become available to all players. Also unlocked is instant access to the highly versatile DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun.

Pre-ordering from Amazon gives players a set of 10 dog tags which appear each time a player takes down an enemy or gets their dog tag take from them.

If you pre-order the game from EA’s PC service “Origins” you’ll get the Physical Warfare pack, 807S Shotgun and Beret, and early access to the beta.

Which pre-order bonus are you going to get? Let us know in the comments.
