Verizon Preparing for Samsung Stratosphere

August 3, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Verizon Wireless seems to be gearing up for hurling in a major product from Samsung. We hear whispers of Samsung Stratosphere being labeled to be one of Big Red’s major 4G LTE release.

There are discussions going on regarding the device and whether it’s the Samsung Slider that had mysteriously popped up a few days ago or whether it might be referring to the high-end Galaxy S II. But since there have been no word on any thing from Verizon or Samsung, we are left with the guesswork.

But we did hear the Motorola CEO, Sanjay Jha, remarking pretty confidently about his upcoming device being the first dual-core 4G LTE phone ever. If that’s how Motorola’s intending, then we might not get to see the Stratosphere any time soon.

To add strength to the rumors regarding the LTE release from Verizon, a support page has been spied for the Stratosphere. The page which has been created is either no longer available or not yet opened up for the public eye.

When you attempt to visit verizonwireless.com/stratospheresupport, you are directed to this page (screen shot below), which, to us, means something’s cooking. We have seen support pages like these before and Verizon has these for all its new devices, so the redirection could be pointing to a future occurrence.

Well, all that we can say at this moment is that Verizon will be having a device called Stratosphere sometime in the future. Lots of questions are hanging in the air, but the time’s still not ripe for the answers.
