Sprint Galaxy S II to Come as Samsung Epic Touch 4G; US Release this September

August 3, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

We don’t have to tell you yet again that the Samsung Galaxy S II that was headed for Sprint with the ‘Galaxy Within’ moniker. We now hear the device will come with a different nomenclature.

Folks at BGR tell us that Sprint’s version of the slim smartphone will now be known as the Samsung Epic Touch 4G. The carrier is said to be readying the launch of the device just days after they release a handful of devices, such as the Samsung Conquer 4G and BlackBerry Curve 9350 (Sedona).

That means the device might come to our midst this September, after the release of the other phones by late August – the 12th of August to be precise.

So, what do we expect from the Epic Touch 4G when it actually arrives? Much like its predecessor, the Samsung Epic Touch 4G will feature 4G WiMAX connectivity – okay, you know that already as the name itself says that.

What will be missing is the QWERTY keyboard found on the original Epic 4G. By giving that feature the miss, Sammy seems to have taken into consideration the thoughts of the anti-QWERTY bunch among us.

We know that the phone will run Android Gingerbread OS. But, we are yet to be elaborately detailed on the additional specifics of the slim innards, though we have already been given a hint when the phone was made official some time ago.

We are now just waiting to have the slim device in our hands this September. Are you getting one?
