Blizzard Trademarks Name For Possible World of Warcraft Expansion

August 3, 2011, By Christian Davis

MMO Champion has discovered that Blizzard has filed a new trademark under the name “Mists of Pandaria.” The trademark is categorized under “computer game software” and “on-line computer games” so all signs are pointing towards an expansion for World of Warcraft.

It hasn’t even been a year since Blizzard’s latest WoW expansion, Cataclysm, was released but you always need to keep your fans entertained in the world of MMOs and with EA’s Star Was MMO on the way, it’s a good idea to have  more on the way.

Panderia is the homeland of the Pandaren, the Warcraft race consisting of Panda humanoids. Pandaren hasn’t been explored in any Warcraft game (perhaps the books?) so fans should be excited to see some completely new territory from the Warcraft lore.

There hasn’t been any word from Blizzard on the trademark and we probably won’t hear anything until this years Blizzcon on October 21st -22nd. The Pandaren race has been asked for since the launch of the game so fans will be happy about this announcement.

Who out there is excited for a possible panda based World of Warcraft expansion?
