Apple Next-Gen iPhone Touch Panels to be made by Taiwan Firm TPK

July 26, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Apple iPhone 5 rumors just happen almost every day. We have one today too. Not to be dismissed as just a rumor, this piece of information comes with the stamp of a Taiwanese component maker.

Going by what the news flowing out of the company points to, we need to believe that TPK Holdings is close to pocketing around 80 percent of the contract to make touch screen panels for the next iteration of the iPhone. Wonder why TPK? Simple! The company is the only component maker that has the capability and capacity to make the number of touch screen panels needed for the iPhone without any compromise on quality.

Interestingly enough, the news source states that the orders are for touch panels used in the upcoming iPhone 4S. We are yet to find out why they say so, when they probably mean iPhone 5.

TPK’s credentials in making the required number of quality touch panels come into play when you get to look deeper into their performance till date. TPK has the strong backing of “an unparalleled yield rate of 92-93% in production of touch panels”.

Further, TPK’s touch panel solutions have already been acknowledged by many a smartphone and tablet maker on a global level. The clientele includes big names such as HTC, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Cupertino seems to be on the right track. What do you think?
