Upload Video Game Captures to YouTube!

July 25, 2011, By Christian Cawley

Capturing screenshots from video games is a great way of collecting memories of great moments, demonstrating to friends how far you got through the title and even illustrating your success online via Facebook.

As you may have already seen, the WeGame client makes this possible and even offers an automatic upload option – but what if you have a more advanced requirement?

What if… you want to record your progress through a game and upload a video, either to WeGame or YouTube?

Recording your progress through a game isn’t easy. You might set up a video camera and point this at your monitor, but sooner or later something is going to knocked or you’ll run out of storage space.

Fortunately, WeGame features a video record mode that allows you to record in three different levels of quality and offers the facility to upload your video to the WeGame website. Better still; the clips are stored on your computer so that you can easily upload them to YouTube at your convenience!

Setting Up WeGame

To get started you will need to visit www.wegame.com where you should click the Signup link; once your account is created, use the Download Client link to get your copy of the software. WeGame acts as a client that sits on your PC, running in the background while you play games, and this enables you to take screenshots and record videos.

Once installed, use the Scan for Games button in the bottom right corner of the WeGame window; once this is done, you will then need to assign a hotkey to begin recording. You can do this in the WeGame client in the Record Hotkey field, available via Settings > Videos. Note that you can use this screen to change the location you save your videos to as well as select whether or not to record sound from the game and set a frame rate (FPS).

Finally you can also choose between three different recording modes, for the web, half the normal size and a full-screen option which may slow down your game.

When playing, you will know when you are recording as a green indicator will appear in the top-left corner of your monitor.

Uploading Video Game Clips to YouTube

In order to share your video game progress on YouTube you will of course first need to setup an account. You can do this by visiting the popular video sharing website and clicking Create Account; if you already have one, simple click Sign In.

Once you are signed in, use the Upload link to start the process. The Upload video option will allow you to browse your PC and find the clip you have recorded, and while the clip uploads to YouTube you can add a title, description, tags, category and configure a privacy option if necessary (you might, for instance, prefer to invite certain people to view the clip rather than have it on general release).

After that, click Save changes, and a few moments later the video clip of your progress through the game will be available to view on YouTube!
