July 13, 2011, By Christian Davis

Odds are you’ve probably played a PopCap Game before. One of the leading providers for mobile games, tablets, PCs, and social networks have been bought by EA, one of the largest publishers in the world.

Have you played Plants vs Zombies, Bejeweled, or Zuma? Then you’ve played a PopCap game. They’re responsible for some of the most addicting games we’ve seen this generation and they just keep getting better while creating hit after hit after hit.

“EA and PopCap are a compelling combination,” said EA CEO John Riccitiello. “PopCap’s great studio talent and powerful IP add to EA’s momentum and accelerate our drive towards a $1 billion digital business. EA’s global studio and publishing network will help PopCap rapidly expand their business to more digital devices, more countries, and more channels.”

John Riccitiello, CEO of PopCap Games, was also very enthusiastic about forming a partnership with EA. Stating that they’ve “recast their culture around making great digital games” and working with EA would scale their games and services to deliver more social, mobile, casual fun to an even bigger audience.
