Facebook fans should be delighted with HTC’s latest offering. The HTC Status, an Android-based smartphone, with a clear allegiance to the social networking site is just a week away from release.

The Smartphone, currently, is available for pre-order through AT&T. The carrier had initially thought of offering the device but now has revealed that the phone could be brought for $50, with a two-year service contract.

The Status, previously called the Chacha, had made the news last month. We had brought you its speculated features then. Here’s how it looks like.

When compared to other smartphones, the Status has a small screen of 2.6 inches, and a resolution of 480×320 pixels. It’s got a 5-megapixel shooter with a VGA front-facing camera for video chat.

The phone holds an 800MHz processor and runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Additionally, it supports WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and a microSD card and a 1250 mAh battery.

Every smartphone we know can handle social networking, but what sets the Status apart is that it was built focusing Facebook. It’s got a button dedicated specifically to Facebook.

The device will be context sensitive, and will pulse to let users know when they can easily share something. For example, if a user takes a photo with the Smartphone’s camera, a press of the Facebook button will automatically upload the image.

Apart from the networking site, the Status will be packed with the standard Android OS suite of communication and entertainment apps. The device does look to be a bundle of fun.

The phone is wallet-friendly and if you are an avid Facebook fan, this one’s for you. Pre-order your device here.
