Motorola DROID Bionic Appears on Best Buy Ad; Leak Shows Enhanced Device

July 7, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The Moto-boat has been rippling up the tech-seas for the past few weeks. Ever since Motorola showcased the DROID Bionic during the Consumer Electronics Show in January, we have been drenched in rumors regarding its release; and the fact that Verizon is carrying it in hasn’t reduced the news flow either.

And now, we have another piece of meat in the form of a leaked screenshot, saying:

“With the ferocious force of Verizon 4G LTE, the Droid Bionic is an all-powerful, unstoppable machine.”

With a line, worthy of a Michael Bay film, Best Buy’s Mobile Promo material confirmed the existence of the Bionic. Though the leaked ad doesn’t tell us anything new, it could very well be the closest confirmation we get about the enhanced DROID.

After the Bionic’s debut at the CES 2011, there were reports, over the months, of Motorola redesigning the handset for sturdier specs. From the recent image, we see it is a little shinier around the edges and squared off than the unit we had seen in January.

But that’s about it. Apart from our tips in the past, nothing more has been let out by the authorities. The ad doesn’t give a release date, but from what we had told you earlier, you might spot the Bionic in August.

All these days of waiting might pay off next month, and we will get to see whether Motorola’s first- and Verizon’s fourth- 4G LTE phone will get a grand opening.
