LG Optimus 3D Stuffed with Games En Route to Korea

July 7, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

3D is the rage these days and every where we turn, we see people wanting to pocket one. LG’s Optimus 3D is one such phone everybody wants to stash, especially gamers. The device has already landed in Europe and is now en route to Korea.

LG has had a good run of form with its Optimus series of smartphones. After the debut of the solid Optimus One, LG branched out with the quirky dual-core charms of the Optimus 2X, before tackling high style with the skinny Optimus Black.

Now, with the Optimus 3D, they are focusing in on the gaming population of the world. The first smartphone to launch with a “glasses-free” 3D display, the Optimus 3D gives hand-held consoles a run for their money.

The device features a “tri-dual” technology- a dual-core processor, dual cameras and dual-channel memory. It’s powered by a dual-core 1GHz OMPA4 processor, 4.3-inch WVGA display and 8GB of storage. Everything’s 3D, from 3D cameras to a glasses-free 3D display, 3D uploads to YouTube and 3D output to a 3D HDTV. If that’s a toll on you, you can switch over to 2D.

Where the smartphone ends, hand-held gaming begins. The Optimus comes pre-loaded with three Stereoscopic 3D (S-3D) games from Gameloft, including Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, N.O.V.A. — Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance and Let’s Golf! 2. The arena will be packed with 17 S-3D titles rolling out over the next few months.

A recent survey over the past few months have shown iOS and Android devices eating up a major share of the portable gaming market by revenue. Gameloft, the world’s leading game developer, partnering with LG, will make a formidable team and give the other brands something to look out for.

Michel Guillemot, President of Gameloft, was heard promising new titles for competitive prices. Fourteen additional Gameloft S-3D games will be available for download via the 3D Games icon on the LG Optimus 3D.

If you own an Optimus 3D, you are entitled to games, namely: Assassin’s Creed: Altaïr’s Chronicles, James Cameron’s Avatar, Ultimate Spider Man: Total Mayhem, GT Racing: Motor Academy, Shrek Kart, Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus, Real Football 2011, Star Battalion, N.O.V.A. 2 — Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance, Dungeon Hunter 2, Fishing Kings, BackStab, Eternal Legacy and Shadow Guardian, at half-price for the first three months. Archer Craft, an LG produced S-3D game, will also be available as a free download.

With architecture designed to provide maximum performance and efficiency, the Optimus has the ideal processing power required for gaming and viewing videos.Communication, internet and entertainment all strapped together in your pocket, what more could anyone want? Life’s Good, isn’t it?
